Type a keyword: a command, a module, a dashboard page…

These commands let administrators post messages as the bot: a quick announcement with !say, a formatted message (embed or container) built with a website form, or a banner generated with the title of your choice.

Tip

For richer or scheduled messages

The dashboard's message studio (Creation › Embeds / Containers) lets you compose a message with a live preview, send it as the bot or through a webhook with a custom name and avatar, and schedule it. The variables you can use are described in Message variables.

Making the bot talk

!say

Sends a bot message in a channel, edits or deletes a bot message, or sends a direct message to a member.

Syntax

!say [#channel] <text…> | !say edit <id> <text…> | !say delete <id> | !say dm <@member> <text…>

Options

OptionTypeRequiredDescription
#channelChannelNoThe channel to post in (this one by default).
edit <id>SubcommandNoReplaces the text of a bot message (in this channel).
delete <id>SubcommandNoDeletes a bot message.
dm <@member>SubcommandNoSends the text to the member by direct message.

Examples

  • !say #announcements Game night starts at 9 pm!
  • !say dm @Alex Your ticket has been handled.

When the message is posted in the command's channel, your command is deleted: only the bot's message stays. Each use is logged in the Server logs channel.

How the message builder works

On Discord, /create-embed and /create-container open a private panel with buttons and input windows. On Fluxer, the same builder goes through a website form and a preview by direct message:

  1. Type the command in the channel where the message must be posted. The bot DMs you the form link (valid for 15 minutes).
  2. Fill in the form and submit: the page tells you the preview is in your DMs.
  3. Under the preview, click ✅ Send to post, ✏️ Edit to reopen the already filled form, or ❌ Cancel.

If your direct messages are closed, the link and the preview show in the channel (the preview for 5 minutes at most).

Creating or editing an embed

!create-embed

Creates a custom embed (title, link, description, color, footer, thumbnail, image) and posts it in the channel.

Syntax

!edit-embed <message id> [#channel]

Examples

  • !create-container

The container form has five fields:

FieldHow to fill it
TextThe content in Markdown. A --- line on its own separates two blocks (a separator is added between them).
Thumbnailhttps address of an image shown next to the first block.
ImagesOne https address per line (10 at most): the gallery under the text.
ButtonsOne link button per line: Label | https://… (25 at most).
ColorHexadecimal code of the side bar (#48D1E1).
Note

Containers and embeds on Fluxer

Fluxer doesn't display Discord's containers or buttons: the bot posts the container as an embed (the text, the thumbnail, the first image, then the other images below) and its buttons become links [Label](https://…). The day Fluxer adds these components, the same settings will give a real container.

!edit-container

Edits a container posted by the bot: the form opens filled with its text, thumbnail, images and color.

Syntax

!edit-container <message id> [#channel]

Generating a banner

!create-banner

Generates a banner image with a styled title, on the community's welcome image (or Dispatch.IO's default image).

Syntax

!create-banner [title]

Options

OptionTypeRequiredDescription
titleTextNoThe banner's title (25 characters at most). Without a title, the options form opens right away.

Examples

  • !create-banner Game night

The banner's preview arrives by direct message, with four reactions:

ReactionEffect

📦Posts the banner in a container (an embed in the community's colors)
⚙️Opens the options form: title, text effect (gradient, neon, none), font, alignment, text color, community name on the side, community icon, dark veil
❌Cancels

After changing the options, a new preview arrives.
