The Message with buttons action posts a message (text and embed) with up to 5 buttons or one choice menu. A click starts another automation: the one whose trigger is Button or menu clicked.
On Fluxer, buttons and menu options are reactions: the message shows a legend line ("🎮 Gamer · 🎨 Artist") and the bot adds the matching emojis. Clicking a reaction is clicking the button. See Buttons, forms and replies on Fluxer.
Setting up a button
- First create the automation started by the click: Button or menu clicked trigger, then its actions (for example Toggle a role and Reply). Save it.
- Create (or open) the automation that posts the message: add the Message with buttons action, write the message, then for each button: text, emoji and Started automation (the list only offers "Button or menu clicked" automations).
- Start that automation (a command, a schedule…): the message is posted with its legend and reactions.
The !roles-panel command template and the Button role template make exactly this pair.
Buttons, links and menus
| Element | On Fluxer |
|---|---|
| Button (any color) | A reaction with the button's emoji, or a number (1️⃣, 2️⃣…) when it has none. Starts the chosen automation. The color has no visible effect. |
| Link (URL) button | A [Text](https://…) link in the message. |
| Menu | Each option is a numbered reaction (or one with its emoji) and starts its own automation. |
What happens on click
- The bot removes the member's reaction, so the button stays clickable, and starts the automation.
- The started automation knows the member who clicked (
{user}), the channel and the button's message. - Its Reply actions answer the click: by direct message if Replies visible only to the clicker is on in the trigger (5 seconds in the channel if their DMs are closed), otherwise in the channel, as a reply to the message.
- The cooldown, the loop guard and the other safeguards apply as for any automation.
Note
Reactions stay active as long as the automation they start exists and is on, even after a bot restart.
